In 1885 the Spoleto archaeologist Giuseppe Sordini discovered the remains of a domus dating back to the first century AD, located exactly below the Town Hall. The excavations continued several times bringing to light most of the original rooms of the house, which still retain the wonderful mosaic floors and also some traces of wall paintings. An exceptional discovery, which today allows visitors to enter a domus 2000 years ago to learn the customs and customs of the Romans who lived there.
