DREAMHOUSE

curated by Saverio Verini
Casa Romana

The Casa Romana, archaeological site dating back to the first century after Christ, hosts a project by the artist Alice Paltrinieri (Rome, 1987), curated by Spazio Taverna. The intervention focuses on the ancient residential function of the place. For the occasion, the visitor will be welcomed by a sound installation based on the dreams stories of people interviewed by the artist.

The selected testimonies focus on the theme of the house - intended as a place of refuge, and storage of memories -, with the aim of shortening the distance that is often placed between the contemporary world and archaeological sites. The intervention of Alice Paltrinieri aims to bring the visitor into an atmosphere in which contemporary dreams come to life from a place that, over 2000 years ago, has seen other people live and dream.

The descriptions of the places and spaces narrated within the dreams overlap the imagination evoked by the environments of the Roman House; the daily and family dimension that originally characterized the place emerges after centuries in the form of dreams, whose story is spread in the different environments of the domus.
