Opened over the years thanks to the generous donations made by collectors, the textile and costume museum collects artifacts from the 14th to the 20th century.
Artifacts displayed in the museum are divided according to their category.
The first room is dedicated to sacred vestments, where it is possible to admire a series of chasubles from various eras and a precious velvet with a "pomegranate" decoration from the 15th century.
The sacred vestments room is followed by the costume room, which houses precious elements of men's and women's clothing, including the Empire-style dress that belonged to Alexandrine Bonaparte, Napoleon's sister-in-law. Through the accessories room, where a vast range of caps, shoes and bags are on display, you reach the textile room, which well illustrates the richness and variety of this kind of artifacts.
The exhibition ends with the room dedicated to local fabrics, among them, the ancient "tablecloths from Perugia" which were reproduced in painting by famous artists such as Leonardo da Vinci, Ghirlandaio, Giotto and many others.
